I am working on a site that needs to have a shopping cart and credit card sales. There are about 5-6 items to be sold so its not like I need a huge database.
Whats the best to go about this without having to get my hands dirty with programming myself? Any advice will be appreciated.

ccnow is pretty good for web shopping. we started out using them when we only had a few products, and before we knew anything about hooking up a serious database. also, paypal is an option.

absolute cheapo way: paypal.com
we've used the system. it's really good. just tack on the 3% charge to the items you're selling.

how easy is it to set up a decent looking interface with paypal? do you have to revert to their payment pages?

For the shopping cart you can use UltraCartII for DreamweaverMX download it here:
http://www.thechocolatestore.com…ANd integrate it with Paypal.com
That is very simple way to do it.

And Use a microsoft access database for site with low traffic, or SQL Server for High volume traffic.

Paypal is not a rip. It is a turnkey solution. It's alot better than having to deal with a merchant account and the fees that come along with it and Using someones Virtual Terminal. Examples are
