Does anyone know how to switch off the text smoothing feature in Safari?
Thanks...

I think Safari uses the system's settings. You should use TinkerTool (look in VersionTraker) to disable font smoothing globally.
Font smoothing is one of the reasons I upgraded to OS X but it's incredible how many people want to turn it off.

TinkerTool didn't work. Guess we'll have to wait for the final release (or perhaps never).

I am using Safari and have seen smoothing off at some sites.
At NT when writing in PV-AN and at http://www.thedesignersrepublic.… discussionboard.
I guess the tDR is a flash-thing and the NT is something related to forms, but this leads me to think it could be done.
Any ideas or thoughts?

i think it's a flash thing as well. my site shows up without smoothing but i have yet to see another site that doesn't have smoothing. granted i haven't been using it that long.

Kids.
it smooths TEXT
flash text isn't text.
it's flash text
images of text are not text eitheryou can't turn it off just in Safari, sor some reason. It's annoying.
anti-aliasing looks bad unless the text is large.

The idea is we all eventually get super hi-res screens and font sizes grow bigger gradually... I don't know why we've put up with text thats just 10 pixels high for so long...should be 50 or so at least... it's 2003 you know!... but then we were meant to have flying cars by now too...
