Everything that happens in this world affects everyone. There are so many americans who travel and work outside of the US and should be protected by the US.
If there are terrorists training camps in Afghanistan then its only a matter of time before there is an attack on the US... For example 9/11 ... that is why we should be pro-active in this world to prevent such horrible events. We should have been more pro-active before 9/11.
If it wasn't for fear of US retailiation, i am sure there would be more cases of evil regimes (countries) trying to take over other countries.
If there was no US presence, i am sure IRAQ would have tried to take over Isreal by now...
The possible scenarios of evil in this world would be unreal if there were no policing superpower/.

no actually an American who's lived in worked in over 7 different countries other than the USA, who's grandfather, uncle and father served in the military and yeah as a Yankee have an open mind and also the sense not to post political threads on design-oriented websites. as an american i grow tired of these threads, not because i don't want to believe the 'truth' but because i'm sick of the negativity and cynicism we are painted with.
we all know george bush is an idiot. we have agreed on that thousands of times here.
we are quite aware that america has a high percentage of overweight people. so what!?! let them choke on their McDonalds.
i'm not saying that since this is a design forum that we should all just get along and talk about design exclusivley, but that we have beaten these topics to death and reviving them does nothing but create tension among us. how then, are we any better than the people that you ridicule?
