when i scan an image, and open it in Photoshop 7 (MAC OS 9.2), the image is very dark. the scanner is an all-in-one, and when i copy the image, the print is fine (not dark, so therefore the scanner/printer is fine). so why is Photoshop *darkening* my scans? are there adjustments in the Photoshop Colour Settings that i need to make? do i need to make changes in the ColourSync profiles?

probably the settings on the scanner software

the scanning software is the same as the copying software (and the copies look fine), so that's not it...it's a Lexmark X83...
