Before I bought my Civic I owned a Golf. I will agree that the Golf was WAY more of drivers car, but the repair bills were a nightmare. With a VW, you pay for the tight corners and you should have a repair team back in your own garage. I still love VW's but the price keeps me away.

man that honda is hideous. if those were my choices i'd go with the toyota

i own a 95 corolla.
been a good and reliable car. had it since 96 and have had to replace the contacts in the starter, that is all the work i've ever had to do to it.
i change the oil and rotate the tires and it keeps on running great. 110,000 miles and still looks nice and sparkly new.

why gabe.. had any experience with one of them?

i might add i have a 2000 civic lx and am not fond of any of the 2003 bodystyles really..
everything looks all hyundai'ed out

oh, my fault. i thought the image on the home page of honda was the civic you were talking about. i thought it was a direct link. the honda's not so bad, kind of a chick car, but...
my vote's for the toyota! it's a nice car especially considering the class it's in.
my mother's side of the family buys only toyotas and have been for the past few years.
they haven't had any problems (aside from the obvious that arise from regular wear and tear, all minor.)
both great cars though. that protoge on the other hand is "meh"
it's all relative though, the next person might put down toyotas and praise the honda because their brother's girlfriend's sister had one and it lasted 15 years

I can attest to Honda lifespan. Well, I have an Acura Integra, which is nothing more than a glorified Honda (actually made by Honda) and I'm chugging along with 230,000 miles as we speak.
However, I want something new and exciting...think I'm going to test drive some Hyundai's...
I really want the new 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT. It smoked all in its class as far as value is concerned. It's loaded and actually a beast of a car for just under 20k. Not quite so loaded, they start around 16. The Elantra GT hatchbacks are pretty cool as well. In all, you don't see hundreds of these on the daily commute like you do with Civics and Jettas.
Go original. I love VW's and Honda's alike, but I'd feel like a f*cking number instead of an individual if I bought a Jetta. Hehe.

My wife got a decked out Mini for about 20k.

By the way 5dp,
How does the new Corolla drive? That's what always sells me on a car. One of things I never liked about Hondas is that they tend be sluggish with dead handling.

yea go to
http://www.miniusa.com and build your own i just build one total cost $17,075

i hate those damn chichi minis. they're so damn queer looking.
they're the best out of the entire silly looking line of cars though, i'll give them that.
to each his own i guess!

i'd never buy a car just because it's website is nice, but that's just me!
- gabe0
okay, the interior is pretty damn sweet, but the outside remains silly

Yeah.. sorry guys. i'm in canada. The birthplace of taxes.
- gabe0
totally off subject, but here's a car i could fall in love with. the concept cars for the 40th anniv. mustang GT
- 5dp0
The new corolla drives well.. lots of torque for its size. but on cornering or lane changes you can feel the back end not keep up. It's a nice looking car, but i'm hesitant because its the first year of the release, mind u corollas are known for reliablity. The instrament panel is nict to look at, but kind of clunky to operate. its a good car for taller drivers.

from the front that mustang kinda looks like a shark
