i got laid off yesterday.. gutted.
it's all good, i wasn't happy there anyway, it's the kick in the ass i need to get myself sorted workwise, shall i stay in design? shall i move on and up design wise? i dunno.. fortunately i got a nice golden handshake (more like a golden boot in the balls), but am gonna miss the people as they're a good laff.
any one else been made redundant recently?
it's a first for me...what do i do? i'm going potty with the thought of lounging about.
any ideas?

have been made redundant twice, just get a job as soon as you can, you'll go mad otherwise. get your portfolio in order etc

hit me a year ago... luckily it was on a sunny summer day...
walked to union square (park), smoked a joint and drew for hours. Met a cute japanese chick there too (Still talk to her once in a while).
I don't know if making a career change is a good idea sans employment. It's much easier to do with an income...
So, like the king said, find yourself a gig asap until something better comes along...
In the mean time, take a week or two to catch up on sleeping late, getting really smashed and hitting on women you normally wouldn't hit on. Gold diggers are the funnest when you're jobless..

Whats the minimum pay for redundancy in the UK ?
Is it 1 weeks pay for every years service ?

mylaptop - it's something really shit like that, i'm quote fortunate though as i've got a few £k's as a sign off.. and we all went down the pub yesterday and got bolloxed on the company credit card!
i think i drunk a salaries worth of JD and stella last night.. vaguely remember downing a 1/4 pint of it too!

3cv there are plenty of jobs out there, but i was cracking on with hitting the idtv market, might have to go back into print for a bit maybe... bills to pay n that..
