Fireworks & XP - workspace?

Since installing Studio MX on my home machine running Win XP, there is no bounding box around my canvas to distinguish it from the rest of the workspace.
What the hell?
I have changed frwks pref's as well as desktop properties (window color, etc.) but to no avail.Has anyone else run into this prob? If so please throw me a bone here, people.
