I'm currently making some pdfs for a global audience - everyone in the UK prints to A4 but do Americans use US Letter?
I've done the logical thing and made a page size that allows for both margins but seems like I'm losing a lot of page space... am I missing something?

Is a standard page margin really 2.5 cm? Seems like an awful lot...
Does anyone know of a resource for standards in this area?
Please help!

Letter (8.5x11) is the standard North American size. You'd be hard pressed to find a piece of A4 round these parts. Compensating for both is your best bet, and then whoever is printing can adjust the page setup to the proper size.
