Not sure where you got your data from, but that statement has no basis in fact. I've spent alot of time studying the history of the Christian faith. This is hardly the forum for delving into such matters, however.
I too have no need for "religion". I need Jesus.

You may have to delve into more esoteric early religion back when it was first invented. Cristianity evolved from Paganism which celebrated mans relationship to nature. Jesus was no doubt a good fakir who had some pretty nifty tricks up his sleeve and a way with peasants.
