How in the hell do I realease my IP adresse in MacOSX.1
When I got to my system settings and go to network the IP fields are blank and it says they are derived from the PPP.
I'm switching my highspeed connection between my MAC and PC and when I swithc to PC I have to realease the IP.
The only way I've been able to do it so far is to call my provider and have them do it on there end.
There has to be an easier way?

search version tracker for one of those tiny apps that retrieves your IP, cant remember the name.

My provider keeps telling me that I need to find a way to release the IP... would an app that retrieves it serve that purpose?

Get a Router and set up a network?

go into network settings in OSX and change your network to something else besides what you have now. I always switch it from DHCP to Mamual, then hit apply. Then switch back to DHCP. Also, unplug your modem power for a few minutes. They say it only takes 60 sec, but sometimes it will be longer. Leave it off while your taking a shower or making food or something...it should grab a new IP once restarted.

I was just going to say that. Close all your apps and unplug your modem power cable for 5-10 seconds and plug it back in.
I do it everyday. Its sucks get a router thier only around $39. Im getting mine this week:)
