i think the problem is stupid xp.

you will proabably have to re-install your system software...are you having problems with atm in any other apps? photoshop text pixelated?
- surfito0
photoshop text looks a bit funny, im going to reinstall atm now, but i allready know that wont fix illestraitor.
do you get your money back for this kind of problem? is it worth paying the price of this poorly coded applications? is it XP?

i have the same problem as well. i just take my delorean back to 1985 and it runs fine.
(set your clock back to 2001 dude, it should work fine)
- surfito0
no its not the clock. i wish it was

I have the same problem! But on OSX. That's pretty unusual . When I start up Illustrator it gets to the reading fonts and then locks up. Occasionally it does start up, but runs super slow. I've tried everything. It must be an adobe fuck-up because I'm on a mac. Let me know if you figure out anything.

hey someone that has a problem carty had... except i was dealing with photoshop 7... such a deja vu... my only solution [for those that are wondering] was to reinstall win2k pro, and reinstall all the software... my box is wicked now.. but i lost a few days... i did try all the fixes that you are currently trying... you need to reinstall the OS. reset the registry... start over... sorry...

Did you upgrade to Illustrator 10.03?
I had that problem once or twice until I upgraded, but none since--it runs flawlessly now. I am running Illustrator on WinXP Pro.

Trash your preferences.
In WinXP they are located somewhere in the C:/Document and setting ... or something, make a search on Google or in the Help of Illustrator you will find it for sure.
Sometimes trashing the preferences resolve everything.
often worked for me.

Download the updates, I think Adobe've release some ...
Make a disk defrag.
Uninstall-reinstall it. Completly uninstall it, erase its key in the registry. then reinstall.
Do you have a copy of Windows XP ? If yes, have you updated it with the LiveUpdate thing ? ...
Do you send a report when you crash in XP?Do you have a virus on your computer ?
dunno man :o0
- surfito0
comon benn, tell me more about trashing your preferences, im not too good at windows.
:)
- Bennn0
Many peoples dont even know prefs exist man
- surfito0
