does anyone know how to reset palette locations in AI 9 or 10? i find this option very crucial - more crucial than save!

Mouse over to the menu:
Window, swatch libraries, and select "DEFAULT_RGB" or "DEFAULT_CMYC " This what your looking for?

OOPS

Why would you need to do that?
re-install if you really fudged things up. Other than that just mover your tools and pallettes around to thier desired location and quit. They really need to have a "save workspace" option in there like macrmedia products.

ie - in photoshop you can go to window > workspace > reset palette locations.
in fireworks you can go to commands > panel sets > pick y our resolution.
why would you need to do that? well, b/c if you had a boss with bad eyes and needs to see things at lower res, you are constantly needing to move each and every panel and palette by hand.

Ah I see.
Get a new boss. Yours seems old.
Time to upgrade

It can't be done in Illustrator. MAny people on the beta team for AI 10 suggested it but it didn't get implemented in time. Maybe in 11. I'm positive about this. Maybe if you delete the prefs...but no quick way.
