I'm trying to use a nice small font on my site. In the past I've used 'small fonts' but most pc's show it in a squashed up unreadable way. My pc's ok but most others aren't.
I'm using Dreamweaver 4 and the smallest I can get is by using Verdana blah blah and the size at 1
I've a feeling I should do something with style sheets, but I don't know how this will help me with my size problem.
Any help would be brilliant as I have no idea
cheers ..

verdana is your best bet. At least that is what I've found

you could put a browser/platform detect script which then directs the user to a page designed for their platform.

set it in a stylesheet as verdana 9px. That should give you the equivalent of the body text used on NT.
If it needs to be smaller still.. you will need to use an image if you want it to be readable.

Yes - use style sheets and make sure you're type size is in pixels. That's the only way to get consistancy.

The issue you may be having could be due to the amount of people using high resolutions on small monitors (like 1024x768 on a 15inch or 1200x960 on a 17inch) in which case you can't do much but aim for the majority. You will find that using stylesheets and px settings on 9/10/11 will work better for consistency.

Mick brings up a great point...
I had a client complaining that one of the Miniml fonts I used on their project was un-readable. Not just too small, literally unreadable. Next time I was at their office - I kid you not... she was on a 12 inch monitor at 1024x768!!!!
I dont' know how she read anything!

Cheers guys
So obvious!!
NT just lost my last answer so I'll be brief (like the pants)
I think the small fonts thing is cos it's on most mac's but few pc's. It was designed for 800x600 but was designed on a pc with 1024x768 on a 17" monitor and I tried it out on loads of friends computers.
Oh well, Thanks again
