do you draw freehand? If so, you will wonder how you lived without it.

i absolutly love using mine for retouching photos.
anytime i open photoshop, i like to have my wacom. it isnt entirely necessary, but they sure do come in handy.

my wrist really hurts these days too. i hear that they take the stress off. another plus.
do they work like a mouse? can i open programs and stuff on my desktop with them?

yea. they work just like a mouse
you can set them work a couple of different ways.
you can have it set to mimic the screen. which is say, if you put the tip down in the left corner of the pad, then your pointer will be in the botom left of the screen.
or you can set it to just pick up where you left off. more like a mouse function. so if you start in the bottom left, and pick up your pen and set it in the top right, the pointer will still be in the left. but you can move it around just like you would a mouse.
