im getting a new monitor & hard drive and i was wondering if you kids have any recommendations for good ones, especially in the monitors vein.
i heard those new flatscreen monitors dont produce as delicious of an image than the CRT ones (cathode ray tube or whatever), but i was wondering if theres some sort of median, like a really good graphics display but not a big ass monster that takes up half my tiny apartment space
thanks i love you

Samsung SyncMaster 900NF.
Trinitron tube, flat screen, not too big. 19" CRT.I bought one through Gateway for $300 or so. Great stuff. Wouldn't change for anything.
Hard drives= Maxtor DiamondMax Plus series. No mistake there. They bought Quantum a while ago which had superior technology and now they produce kick-ass HDDs.
Ultra fast and silent.Cheers.

The only problem you might have with an LCD is with motion graphics, otherwise, they are pretty much superior in every way. They don't need the refresh rate of CRTs, they don't cause the eyestrain (=stress) that CRTs do, and they're brighter, with more contrast.
The ONLY drawback is their price. If money ain't an issue, look at Sony's new 23" LCD (about $3500-4000), Viewsonic makes good ones in the less expensive categories.
Personally, I've got a Dell 21" Trinitron and will never get anything smaller. They go for about $700 from Dell and are probably the best deal going.
Maxtor makes great drives, but so does Western Digital and IBM.
