I have bought my own licenses of Adobe Design Studio and Macromedia Studio MX. I have always used the software at my work but I have decided to buy my own licenses so I do not have to depend on my work should I leave there.
Does anyone else do this or have an entrepreneurial spirit to go beyond the crappy 9-5 job and start a business truly inspirational?

i'm all for experimental push the limit design firms and would give all i could to see one work. i have a requirement though. a huge sales force. i want clients waiting for us to get to their work so many of us get a job and wait around for content to construct. i'm sick of having nothing to do

i wish i knew what you meant. every firm I have worked for has a great abundance of clients but horrible taste in design. They actually told me that my designs were too hip and that their clients are used to a more coporate, 80's feeling.
Its really rediculous. Imean I don't mind so much that they want to make money, thats fine. But don't classify yourself as a designer when you don't have good taste and only know how to do some bevels in photoshop!
Know what I mean? I guess I'm just ranting now. ;P

i have the whole suite didnt pay a dime for it and think the old fireworks was better but what can you expect for free.
Photoshop has a bevel option?
Well how do you wish to approach your problem of clients accepting better design i too have been stifled by bosses telling me to tame it down even though the clients panties are getting wet. who knows who, how, and what to sell these elusive high paying clients? i'll do whatever i can to help.

A good friend of mine is a principal at a school and recently Adobe and Macromedia offered major deals for educational institution in the US of A. I got Macomedia MX entire Suite for only $199 and Adobe Suite for only $300. Funnies thing is that he paid with his funding from his school in that they had too much left in budget. ;)
