the alchemist isn't as good as Cut Chemist, dat fosho. I am partial to Blackalicious stuff.

lyrically he is top notch.
i'm annoyed with the throwback production.
seeing people with the potential to make the modern day classic--the perfect rap album and deciding not to makes my skin crawl.
he is spitting at his zenith right now, and finally some subject matter i can get with after 3 2 and a half albums, and he picks some 88 production.
GET PREMIER. GET PETE ROCK. GET THE BEATMINERZ. GET THE BEATNUTS. GET DIAMOND D. APOLOGIZE TO HAVOC AND GET A MOBB DEEP BEAT. GET EXTRA P BACK ON HIS GRIND.
hell, do something. as far as i'm concerned with God's Son, he might as well have put out an acapella album or a lauryn hill unplugged 2.0 cuz the beats make me not wanna listen.
you can still have a retro flavour but keep the shit current (see electric circus).
i dunno, i like the album a lot more than it may seem, but i can't jam to it like i want to.

retro is not necessarily a bad thing. sounding current is not necessarily a good thing either.
this album has the best production out of any Nas album. ever. even illmatic. besides, I only see two songs on the album that are definitely old school throwback stuff.
