by the way the 178mph was with a mostly stock R1 (full akrapovic ehaust/jet kit) with a 135hp dynoed to the rear, never street tested with the 170 hp to the rear, im confident with proper gearing (sprockets) she could break 200mph easily.
sorry you get me started on bikes and i just dont shut the &%$# up, ill stop now..

i have to admit, after losing two friends to bike-related accidents, you are extremely brave to keep riding... especially considering the fact that you witnessed their deaths. i've never even seen a stranger die, let alone a friend.

its really hard and changed my life forever. my first friend who died (Taketora Ueda R.I.P) died the first day he learned to drag his knee, right in my rearview mirror, i made a corner, as i hit the straight i heard a scraping behind me, i looked in my rear view and seen him lowside (front tire broke loose) when i looked back he was sliding on his back behind his bike into oncoming traffic, then hit an suv head on, the suv's front tire hit his mid section then hit the brakes distributing all the suv's weight onto my friends chest. as this was happening i was already in the process of turning around, when i made it to him 15 seconds later there was a 25 foot traile of blood pouring from his mouth in the double yellows, he died right there in front of me. i never cried so hard.,
my second friend (Patrick Netter R.I.P) was a young 18 year old rider i used to go to the track with alot, we rode almost daily on the street, we thought out of all of us, he would be the one to go pro (big boys AMA) since he was so young, we let him go ahead of us, and when i made a few corners, i found him pinned underneath a mini van, with a 3' in diameter pool of blood in the oncoming traffic lane. witnising thisng like this will change you forever, i used to be a bigtime street rider (canyons and twisties only) i loved it and looked forward to it everyday, but i had to stop.the crashes i experienced during races would have definatly killed me have they been on the street. all you riders out there be safe and be smart, if your gonna push it, keep it on the track, i wouldnt want to wish what ive experienced with dear friends to my worst enemy.

Just bought a 1981 Honda CB750C, Looks like this except red
What a monster! I'm too afraid of bikes to go any faster than 70mph, which is fine for a classic. Not much into racing bikes though. Me and my bro are also fixing up a BMW R65, nicest bike ever made imo Just to keep it relevant, here's a beautiful 40's illustration for a BMW ad
