Is this real?
So designers wanting to make simple backups of their works are pretty much screwed in Canada?
I can't believe this.....

Not only that, if you want to stock your photos or any other documents that have nothing to do with copyright material, you end up encouraging these suckers!

Wow - I better make a run to Future Shop and stock up.
Next they'll probably put unreal taxes on our booze and cigarettes.

yes, I read that CEO's of companies will stage a protest against this from happening. It's crazy to have such high mark ups.

There is an online petition that can be signed here: http://www.sycorp.com/levy/index…
The fact that these proposed levies extend to flash memory and micro harddrives make them even more ridiculous.
The levies would not only tax regular consumers, whatever their use of the media, it will hit musicians themselves who use the media in the creation or independent distribution of their music.

This is like blaming pantyhose for bank robberies.

Just order online from a US distributor...easy fix right?
- matt240
that in US prices though
it is bullshit - soon they will have a built in meter on the cds so we have to pay for each play after we purchase the cd
