  is it possible to pay to have your site ranked higher on search engines? a possible client has informed me that they may go with another service because they are promising a higher ranking. i have so far just been registering sites with different search engines. any thoughts?

  first try getting listed on Yahoo - you will have to pay.. Open Directory (dmoz.org) and Looksmart..
  Then pay to get on Inktomi and Lycos and you are 50% of the way there friend.
