QT 5 in Taskbar!!?

While surfing around on the Apple site, I kept getting harrased to download the latest Quicktime5. Finally gave in, thinking this damn popup will dissapear. Well, well. Being a PC user, I now find this new QT icon in my taskbar!! which I can not get rid of!!! "Yes, please use up more of my system resources with another useless program!!"
Has anyone figured out how to get rid of it! I went into my registry, and thought I had found it and deleted it, well, guess not! CAUSE IT'S STILL THERE!

geeze... right-click the icon in the tray. go to quicktime preferences. then unclick the box that says put it in the tray.

Well, I wish I could, but for some reason it's disabled! I can only access the preferences from the player, and there is nothing about the taskbar.

go to start | run and type msconfig. make sure it's not in the start up list... and you're set.
don't EVER f*ck around in the registry unless you know what you're doing!

I don't own or use a PC and yet when I installed it on my mom's machine it took me all of 2 seconds to figure out how to remove it from the taskbar and quickl auncher.
chill out, and right click
select 'remove' or open prefs and disable the taskbar option.

I'm having the same problem at work (I'm all Mac at home...). I've looked EVERYWHERE in the prefs for a place to turn the damn thing off, and it's not there. I'll vouch for the program's stubbornness...

have you checked what is doing (Docs), what resources it uses? (Task Manager?)...maybe it's practically nothing...
