The Root Council has launched it's new forums and they look to end up being pretty stellar. It hasn't been officially announced, in fact it hasn't even been mentioned in the sites official blog so get in on the ground level before it surges.
There is a complicated ranking system to go with the forum that will be implemented later that is somethign akin to the slashdot "karma" system but will offer you the opportunity to become a full time mod. However, for now-- rank is based solely on number of posts. So post away, get mod access, get respect-- at the Root.
