electromagnetism and car bumpers.
My college roommate used to go on for hours about how this would put an end to car wrecks. So I would say "Well, what if one car was positive charged and another negative charged, they'd stick."
He really had a way in his mind that the cars would sniff that out and change their polarity to avoid that. Genius.
