is the domain registered through the host? or is it registered through godaddy, network solutions or registar?
companies like the three i listed have a very easy "transfer domain" system via a form online.
email your host and tell them you want to transfer your domain to mt. they will tell you the proper protocol.
be warned though, i know the three i listed charge a transfer fee in form or another.
example, network solutions charges ~$15 to move a domain. registar makes you renew your domain with them for another year. i'm not sure about godaddy.
this is why it is wise to register your domain with an actual, brand name register. freedom from hosting.
anyway. another option is to not move it at all? changing dns will change where the domain points on the net. so pay your domain registration fee at the old host once a year and pay mt for hosting every month.
