Version - he's not catholic. He's a Born again. If pressed he will tell you the Catholic Church, and it's adherents (including priests) are wrong and probablt evil, so it would make sense they would molest children.
His line of thinking is a mutated , stunted version of Luther's thought which you know got all of Europe into a Holy War for centuries. Don't try and compare/contrast to Catholicism. It's all the Devil to him.
