i don't think there is anything wrong with the aesthetic. it's simple and clean, i like the serif and colors.
but i have to agree with the navigation problem. i love the idea of the way the info comes in, but it never seems to stop moving. maybe you could abbreviate the affect so the user feels comfortable navigating.
