    When you are storing numbers on a cellphone that supports the '+' system, you can drop the local 'international' prefix altogether...
    e.g. for calling UK from US:
    +44... instead of 011 44...

    calling UK from Australia:
    +44... instead of 0011 44...

    it means no matter which country you are in, there is no need to change the stored numbers in your phone...the system interprets the '+' as 'dial the international code', and then goes straight to the country code.... Just one less thing to worry about...
