The women in Chicago are wonderful. If you're like me and have a fetish for the sort of naisly, whiney female Wisconsin accent, you will be in heaven!
As for jobs, Chicago is the third largest city in the US.
Portland is 28. So maybe the odds are better in Chicago.Winter can be rough here, but it's a great time if you're a fashionable fellow. Summer is really nice, doesn't get too hot, and so much to do - biking, summer festivals, walking around the city, etc.
I've never been to Portland, but I would figure the main difference is that Chicago is a fully self-sufficient city, you can live here, work here, shop here, and never go more than 5 miles from the heart of downtown. Chicago is, in a way, the only other major urban city after NYC were 2-3 million people live in very close proximity to downtown.
