    dude, you seriously need to start versioning your FLAs. problems like this (and other, more serious ones) can be avoided.

    every time you make any kind of advancement within an FLA, save it out as name_02.fla, etc.

    i've easily had 8 or 9 versions of an FLA in the first day of starting to work on a site, and that's just for the structure of the site. after all, it's only HD space. the minute you have a corrupt flash file (or problems) like the one you're having now, it makes it all worth it in the end.

    sorry, i know it doesn't help your current situation, but it really should be standard practice for anyone working within flash
