I might be wrong, but from my understanding, IBM just fabricates the chips that these companies design... it's not like they all run off IBM designed chips, rather just variations of PPC architecture.
I think Nintendo CPU is very close to G5 (close enough that they can dev and run code on Apples now) while Xbox is modified PPC and the Cell is something completely different all together (the Cell is one core while Nintendo is 4 and Xbox 3).
Will this much going on in the console department, I would expect desktops/laptops to triple or quadruple in speed over the next year...
