dude, i feel you.
earlier this year i had the similar happening.
i owed sf for about 500 dollars in parking ticket. around the time i needed to register my car, and DMV sends you the registration fee + parking offense. so i paid DMV everything in FULL.
then one day i get a ticket and my car gets booted. i'm like WTF i already paid my dues!turns out, it takes 90 days for DMV to process shit and give the money to SF DPT (who issues tickets). so i go to DPT and they're like "we haven't received payment give us the money or your car will be towed" - i'm like "that means i have to cancel the check to DMV, which they might not like!"
had a full day going back and forth DMV and DPT, finally got my shit squared out, PLUS 75 dollar fee for the boot.THEN
DPT goes "an officer will be dispatched in next 2-3 hours to remove your boot" and i'm like "i'm in an area that allows me for 1 hour of parking, what if they get rid of the boot in next 30 minutes but i'm not there for another 2 hours believing your word?" and she's like "well you'll get a ticket" so i'm standing in front of my car for 3 hours in RAIN waiting for bullshit officer to remove my boot.at that point, i learned not to fuck with the system.
