I say - layout wise keep it simple and timeless - there can be a few subtle typography choices that shows you are creative.
I usually find that an objective is useless - especially in the creative business.
If they ask me why i have no objective in my resume I always said "my objectives are your objectives and they change for evey situation - as a creative professional you must take on a new voice and new directions all the time - therefore i must keep my objectives open and flexible."
