you just gotta read Kafka's The Trial. The bureaucratic nightmare. it's like all this bureaucracy human beings will be faced to deal with just for living our normal ordinary lives. And the global implications worry me too, like they're being introduced with this global project of controlling immigration and flows of people. In other words, giving impunity to certain powerful nations to enact any policy internationally without having to deal with the inevitable fall out of economic migrants etc. it's a consequence of globalisation rather than terrorism/security in my opinion. plus it impinges on the the essence of spontaneity and free association fundmental to liberal society. slippery slope and all that.
anyway, the badlands are Pakistan, Afghanistan, frontier, and Kashmir.
