New website has some good ideas but doesnt execute them so well imo.
I like the idea of "not feeling alone" at a website, and any interaction that might ensue... in some cases this is a good idea. I think the way it was implemented was more of a "look I can do this" rather than doing something useful with the code. If you were to give users the ability to be seen or not when visiting your site, and in addition, give simple communication tools to them - it might be nice to encourage dialoug between the visitors... in many cases it could enhance the experience. Just showing people as arrows dodging around the screen doesnt do much for me personally.
The idea of showing wear to a site is something I've thought of for a while now. It might be intresting to find a use for it, perhaps as a way to show the popularity of an area or something. Maybe creating a script that can apply natural looking wear to a button or area that has been visited repeatedly (in increments per visitor). Sorta like the elements might wear on a rock over time, or how a real world interface might start to show visible wear such as scratches/abraison and fading.
As for the whole Unity server I'm really not sold. There are many open source projects dealing with XML sockets to add realtime interactivity to Flash without having to pay for it. i don't discredit Moock for wanting to bank on a product, but I quite prefer his writing and teaching over his selling what appears to be an overpriced product.
