personally I wouldnt recomend Colin Moock's book to a beginer, it makes sence for everyone who has done some work with AS already but confusing for some one who starts from scratch.
AS in 24 hours helped me out a lot when I started it. Althought I had a little programming experience, i think it is easy enough to understand.
