kinda reminds me of michaelangelo's relationship with the then Pope. My clients are charities and their 'design' requirements are quite low as their idea of aethetics aren't as educated as others. Designers spend their whole lives trying to polish turds working with lo-res poorly shot images or copy that stinks. There will always be a conflict of interest in what a client thinks compared to the designer. if the marriage of the two parties is a good one then the resulting offspring will be wonderful, but when there is a mismatch, then expect friction, confrontation and misunderstanding. Not every piece of work you do will win awards or look wonderful, but then sometimes successful design needn't look or feel 'good'. Just if it works for your client then fine, at least you won't go hungry the next day right? If you're really frustrated then find some clients who will trust and have more confidence in you, they're out there trust me, you just gotta look hard.
