I went from a light weight Sony Vaio to an Alienware Area 51. The weight increase really bothered me. For about two days. After that, the 3 lb difference was little noticed when compared against the higher resolution scree, blazing speed, extra ports, etc. When I'm working at my desk, I plug in a second 21" monitor into the laptop and work with the two screens. Great for Flash: script window on the laptop, stage on the monitor. One warning, tho. If you do a lot of desktop publishign or web design, the color shift from the laptop screen to a standard monitor can kill ya. It's always good to check it on a monitor before shipping.
