I have a almost brand-New Dell.
It works great. I considered Toshiba, HP, IBM and Sony, but Dell has perfect balance price/performace IMO. I have a Dell 8600c with 1gb ram, 60GB HD (@ 7200rpm). Is no more available, but there are equivalent machines.
