get 2 cats. as young as possible.
we used to have one cat and she passed away last summer. she was 19.
then a couple month ago we got one kitten and then a few weeks later we got another. when the first cat was alone he was bored and used to attack anything and just look for trouble. Since the second cat is here they entertain themselves and are always are always busy.
the cats use the toilet so we dont have that crazy smell. lots of info on the net how to train your cats to do that. they picked it up right away.
