I'm not saying he isn't guilty, or that he shouldn't be punished. I'm saying that if this guy's family and girlfriend said he's hearing voices, talking to himself, and he's having violent fits, he is most likely mentally ill, and there is a value to figuring out why, and there is a ethical obligation to not kill him out of vengence.
