    I agree with this statement very much. I am a big proponent of pushing design forward and making the public become a little more critical.

    At the same time, we are designing for an audience, we can't go way over the average person's head.

    There has to be a happy medium of dishing out tiny, consumable, bite sized, knowledge nuggets, that will make people think a little bit more and prepare them for the next nugget.

    Maybe this logo will make people think about the past, or different cultures. Personally I don't think this logo pushes anything. It's safe.

    I liken this how excited that an average non-designer type is when they see the arrow in the negative space of the FedEx logo. It teaches them to look closer, and pay more attention to the next possible point of interest.
