The internet has such a range of media (and not-media) all mixed in together... in a way you really can't compare it with traditional media... i.e. it isnt all 'publishing'. .. beware.
If you want to be able to simply trust what someone is telling you, look for a name/source you trust (whatever the media). Don't know em? then you shouldn't trust em.
of course you can always question the facts/history behind their arguments, but it's always the case isnt it?
