dude dont waste your money, its usually either a mother board gone bad or per fire wire drives the casing. the drives generally remain intact, swap that bad boy into a different laptop or firewire casing (if that is possible with laptop HDs) and fire it up as if its an external drive. very likely you should get your info back in full, if this doesnt work alas as also earlier mentioned you are pretty boned
