I agree with you Jaline,
But I think people buy into the false dilemma and dogma of religion out of some need to judge others. They're creating identities for themselves by forcing people into some kind of other existence by their mere lack of belief or specific agreement. It's not really about faith, truth, or enlightenment at all.
