Kuz, I see where you are coming from with the notion that humans have the propensity for inventing ideas in an attempt to meet their innermost longings. And I think this is just what world religions do. But... I think that Biblical Christianity stands in stark contrast. In effect, it flies in the face of our human nature. World religions say, "you can do it yourself, just pray so many times, do these 8 fold steps, say this many hail-marys, bow towards Mecca, etc... etc.. etc...". In contrast, the Bible teaches that we cannot do anything to help ourselves and that God, in his love, took on human likeness, lived a perfect life in exchange for our inperfect lives and then paid a penalty we deserved so that we would not have to. And that we receive this as a free gift that cannot be earned (human nature likes to earn things... we like to have something to do with it). So, I think God's perfect plan of redemption demonstrates that it is far from something people could have gotten together and schemed... it would not have come out that way.
