Cocaine, you say?
http://www.theatlanticdivide.com…
The gentleman to my right, clad in leather jacket, goes by the name Matty Cocaine - a name given to him by my old roommate and myself after we met him in 2001.
The man is a machine of ability.
He does coke like it's going out of style, yet manages to go to work every day. One of the very first times we hung out with him at his place, he asked my roommate for a check for $50 to buy drugs from a dealer who had driven in from the suburbs. Also, one night when he was over at our place, just before slipping out into the cold winter night, he stopped for a quick line off our stovetop, which was white. I said, "Matty, you're going to miss some, that's white on white."
He replid simply, "Trust me, I never miss a drop."Immediatly after arriving to my band's show in that picture, he quizzed me as to where our green room was so he could "whip out his candy."
Incedently, back in November he was walking along the street with his girlfriend when some drunk Lincoln Park jocks started making fun of him, and then started a fight with him. He threatened that he had a knife, and just about when that happened a cop car pulled up.
The jocks jump off and tell the cops "This guy has a knife!" and the cops go to grab him.His hand slightly grazed the side of the head of one cop, and they arrested him for assaulting an officer - a tougher charge to beat in Chicago than murder.
The judge, not wanting to completely ruin his life, gave him the following punishment:
For six months, every other weekend, he goes to jail from Friday evening to Sunday evening, and sits in a cell. He has actually been able to take a guitar with him a few times.
He's made friends with some of the guards, who will stop by and listen to him play. The way he describes it, it actually sounds desireable!
I would kill to have a few weekends isolated from reality to write music, read, etc.!!
