i remember when i was little, watching some sort of neo-western schlock on tv with my great-grandmother (she must have been about ninety at the time), and a bar brawl broke out on the telly. there was the usual screaming, punching, ladies jumping up on the chairs, etc. and my granny hollered at the tv:
'lookit tha buncha sissy gals there, wouldja? why, in my day you couldn't catch us shirkin' a good fight. hell, no! ya jes pull offyer stockin', toss a couplea pool balls innit and a-wade on in swingin'!'
sums up american grannies and american pool prescisely...
