architecture IS politics (see: our discussion re: canary wharf). the organization of space is a reflection of the organization of the social fabric. look at the escorial or mussolini's office: the architecture of fascism seeks to dislodge any sense of individuality. or even look at the role of architecture in kafka's novels (which is yet another labyrinth of impossibility: he who defies ekphrasis at every turn!): the castle IS the bureaucracy.
