I play football with an architecture student every saturday afternoons (if i'm up to it). I've found architects to be a very dreamy bunch. Almost effeminate (though i don't mean that as a critcicism). Very zen like. This guys a real idealist, an unabashed romantic. Which often means we clash over a pint (due to my cynical vitriol). Which means we rarely share pints anymore, only ever see him at football. Sad. Funny thing, he's the first person I met at Uni all those years ago. His dorm was next to mine in halls. He just finished an internship with Rem Koolhaas and I even saw his name mentioned in Koolhaas's book - Content. I know he's destined for great things as an architect. Both his parents are architects, and he breathes the subject (in his romanticised idealised way of looking at the world). Sometimes at football, after I see him pull out of yet another crunching tackle, and he complains about the physical nature of the English game - i look at him and think "man, you're gonna get all the girls".
