Did you just come from pc?
I noticed the same thing. The way the mouse moves in osx is so much different I found. I still have trouble getting used to it on my powerbook. Has nothing to do with the processor.
To help the problem a little bit, go to versiontracker.com there is an app there that you can use to increase the speeds beyond what osx limits you too. It's called speed something, I will get the name for you when I am home if you cant find it.
